In depth studies of the Holy Bible are taught each Sunday Morning by Jay Lester in the Internationals Class Room located at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship from 9:30am until 11am. We welcome you to join us for a time of Christian fellowship and study from the Word of God.

Current Study: "Living out God's Purpose (A Study of Ephesians)"

God has a great plan and purpose for His creation. God's plan and purpose is accomplished and realized in Jesus Christ. What does this really mean for the Christian? How does the Christian live out God's purpose for his/her life? We will consider these questions, and others, as we study the book of Ephesians. While the book of Ephesians is directed to Christian believers, this study will also help inquirers and seekers learn more about God and the Christian life.

Previous Study: "
A Christian's Journey (The Life of Paul)"

Life is a journey for all of us. Paul’s journey was unique. It was one man’s “Christian journey.” However, each Christian’s journey is similar in many ways, and we can learn much from Paul’s life. How did Paul become a Christian, know God’s will, share his faith, face opposition, deal with suffering, find fulfillment, etc.? As we consider Paul’s journey, we will see how it relates to our journey. I trust this study will equip and encourage Christians in their own journeys, and also help non-Christians understand how the Christian journey is different.

Previous Study: "Uncovering the Unknown God"

Our world today is very complex. It is filled with various beliefs, philosophies and practices. How does Christianity fit into this world? Starting with Paul's speech recorded in Acts 17:16-34, we consider how the good news of Jesus Christ relates to our world today. This study should be informative to the non-Christian and also helpful to the believer in living the Christian life.

Previous Study: God's Will for His People

This summer, our Bible study series is entitled "God's Will for His People." People generally believe there is a right way to live and behave. But how do we know? And how can we do it? God has given His people instructions on how to live, and He has given them the resources to do it! What are God's instructions? How do they apply to our daily lives? That is what we are discussing. We are using the "Ten Commandments" as a general outline for our study. This study is informative, challenging, and practical. Please join us.

Previous Study: Being A Christian in the Modern World
(A Study of 1 Corinthians)

First century Corinthian culture was influenced by the values of status, occupation, education, knowledge, wealth, luxury and pleasure; which promoted attitudes of self-advancement and self-indulgence. Corinth was a cultural melting pot of different religions and moral standards. This sounds like the modern world, especially cosmopolitan and university communities. Thus Paul's letter to the Corinthians is very applicable to us today. How are Christians to live in the modern world? Our study of 1 Corinthians will help answer that crucial question.

Previous Study: "God's Promise for the Nations"

Beginning on page 1 of the Bible, we will trace God's plan through history to restore the harmony of his original creation. This study provides an overview of the historical, biblical basis of the Christian faith, and highlights the continuity of the Bible through both the Old and New Testaments. We will also find practical application for today's world and our own lives.

"The Life"

"This is the life" is a commonly used American phrase, especially in the midst of great enjoyment. Of course, one person's view of "the life" may be different from another person's view. And "the life" may last a long time or only a few minutes. The Bible talks about "the life", but it means much more than a temporary enjoyable experience. "The life" of the Bible is much better in many ways! What is "the life"? How can we experience it? How can we live "the life" on a daily basis? We will answer these questions as we consider "The Life", based on a chronological study of John 11-21.

"The Sufficiency of Christ"

In this world, we face many challenges. We struggle to live as we ought. We strive to satisfy our deepest desires, but our efforts fail. We might turn to philosophy and religion, but we still feel empty. How can we handle life's challenges? How can live as we ought? How can we experience true fulfillment? As the book of Colossians reveals, Christ is sufficient. Why is Christ sufficient? How is Christ sufficient? How does the sufficiency of Christ apply to our daily lives? We will discuss these things as we study the book of Colossians.

"The Most Important Questions"

As human beings, we have many questions about life. At the same time, many of us fail to carefully consider the “most important questions.” These “important questions” address the meaning and purpose of life, and help us know how to live. Whether believer or nonbeliever, this study should be informative and practical, because our responses to the "most important questions" deeply affect every part of our daily lives.

“Good News in the Psalms”

The Bible contains different kinds of literature, but all communicate powerful truths about life, meaning and purpose. While “the Psalms” are Old Testament poetry written long before the birth of Jesus, we will see how the Psalms point to “the good news of Jesus Christ.” We believe this study will be informative to the non-Christian and also helpful to the believer in living the Christian

"What Did Jesus Say?" (about ...)

A Bible Study entitled "What Did Jesus Say?"
What did Jesus say about himself, God, humanity, truth, meaning, purpose, discipleship, relationship,
morality, religion, salvation, fulfillment and the future? When Jesus spoke, people listened, because he taught with amazing authority. Jesus' words still speak! So let us listen and learn together, and find practical application for today's world and our own lives. You can view each weekly lesson by opening the links below:
