Greetings! Larry & Kitty have invited us to the "countryside" for potluck food and fun. If you plan to come, please let us know so we can better plan. Here are the details: NEW Date & NEW Time: Saturday, May 10, beginning at 12:30 PM. If the weather is rainy, the event may be postponed or canceled. Both food and recreation are outside. (If the weather is rainy, watch your emails.) We plan to begin eating at 12:30 PM, so try to leave Blacksburg no later than 12 noon. Place: This event will be held at Kitty's sister Jean's place (Jean Pauley) because it is bigger. See directions below. It takes about 30 minutes to get there from Blacksburg. Rides: If you need a ride, please let me (Jay) know. If you can offer a ride to someone else, please let me know. If you would like to follow us, or others, let me know. Food: This is a "potluck" dinner, which means everyone brings some food to share with others. If you don't have time to prepare something, takeout food is fine! Clothes: Dress for an outdoor event, like you would for hiking. Afterward we eat, we will play or walk to (small) river. We will be in a cow pasture so please wear old walking shoes (tennis shoes, not sandals) or be careful where you step. :0) If the river is warm enough you can wade (so you may want to bring extra shoes you can get wet). You may want to bring some sunscreen to protect you from the sun. Directions: If you use MapQuest or other online mapping, it will probably send you through the valley (down North Fork Road). This is the shortest way, but the road is small and curvy, and maybe easier to get lost. So it may be better to take Interstate 81, as described below: Take Route 460 to Christiansburg. Get on I-81 North towards Roanoke. Get off at Ironto Exit 128. (which is North Fork Rd or Route 603) Take left (toward the big truck stop) Go about 1.4 mile. Turn Left on Fox Hollow Road (Rt 727) Follow this (.3 mile?) until you come to an "End State Maintenance" sign. Drive to the Left of the sign. This is Jean's driveway.
